This is a preview of a short film about Anti-Asian Hate Crimes & Elder Abuse that is being made in San Francisco Chinatown now (March 2021) by and for Chinese San Francisco natives for the HBO APA Visionaries program. Working title: “Kung Flu: Yellow Peril Pushes Back”
“Now in its 5th year, the HBO Asian Pacific American Visionaries is a short film competition sponsored by HBO that provides emerging directors of Asian and/or Pacific Islander descent the opportunity to showcase their work.”
There’s so much talk given to how women, minorities, underrepresented, and oppressed people need to create opportunities for ourselves to be self-represented in media and culture, but very little money, mentoring, and distribution support given to those female-owned and led projects and stories. Here is your chance to put your money and your actions where too much empty, white-washed, puppet, yellowfaced, tokenism, and lip-service has been excused.
It’s part of the “SF Invictus” cinematic universe.

This film was Written, Produced, Directed, and Edited by, and will star Queer, permanently Disabled (by Violence Against Women), multiracial, Black, Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC), Asian, Sephardic Jewess, Hispanic-Latin@s.
Not too give too much away, but we do not present African-Americans (Latin@s, Jews, Indigenous people, or Asians) in a criminalized, dehumanized light in this story. We do what we can within the time limits of the program.
